The Early Language Milestone Scale-Second Edition (ELM Scale-2) is a test of language development for children from birth to 36 months of age, and for older children whose functional abilities fall within this developmental range. The ELM-2 is designed for healthcare personnel (physicians, PA’s, Nurse Practitioners, Public Health Clinics), early childhood providers (Early Intervention; early childhood educators), and other early childhood specialists as a way of rapidly identifying infants and young children with delayed speech or language. Administration and scoring take 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the child’s age, and scoring method used.
